Lettere Ebraiche in 22 Arcani Tarocchi
Lettere Ebraiche in 22 Arcani Tarocchi
For this deck project, master craftsman Osvaldo Menegazzi teamed up with his
dear Hebrew professor friend to
create this beautiful meditation based on the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet as they relate to the
Major Arcana.
As many are aware, Court de Gebelin wrote an essay in the late 1700’s defining a correlation
between the Tarot cards and the 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet and others of that era (such as Comte de Mellet)
embellished on this theme and studied it further. Many contemporary Tarot scholars and artists
continue to find fascination and inspiration linking these two esoteric systems which have many parallels and
correlations. Osvaldo has painted a series of cards in
Lettere Ebraiche
which relate each Hebrew letter of the alphabet
to a corresponding card in the Trumps.
A matching hand-crafted box adorned with cards from this deck along with
a handwritten title, the shop's logo and Osvaldo's signature hot wax seal also
makes a
gorgeous work of art. Each box created by Osvaldo in his beautiful Milano shop 'il Meneghello',
and are one of a kind originals. The box shown in the images is
the smaller version of this set. The drawer slides out to reveal two compartments to store the deck.
Each set has a signed and numbered signature card in beautiful calligraphy on specialty art paper (+ his hot wax seal). This beautiful deck has the artwork mounted on thick cardstock with a dark brown
paper wrapping around to the front of the cards and folded down at each corner, giving it a wonderful antique look and feel. This very limited edition,
hand-crafted collectable comes in two sizes (details below). This set became available in March of 2010.

A card from the smaller version of Lettere Ebraiche in 22 Arcani Tarocchi is shown next to a card from the large version of the Tarocchi Metaforici (below) so the card sizes from large and small sets can be compared. Artwork is glued onto thick cardstock with a brown paper wrapping around to the front and folded down at each corner, giving it a classy, old-world look and feel and a soothing tactile feel.
A small version of this deck & box set is shown below (box open). This particular set has a wooden 'door knob' handle and the drawer has two inner compartments to store the deck. Each box looks a bit different and one of a kind. From this side of the box, Osvaldo's hand written deck set title can be seen (right). On the left, a card from the deck as well as the title card can be viewed in the two drawer compartments of the box.
